Upcoming hikes and camps →On June 30, 2024, we made our first ascent in the Vardenis Mountains, reaching the summit of Mount Sevkar (3,063 m). The whole mountain range was covered with colorful flowers of every kind. But unfortunately, all the peaks had pulled the clouds over themselves and didn’t let us admire the beauty of the mountains. Only in the distance had Armaghan freed its head from the clouds, and not for long. Before climbing the mountain, we saw Nakhshun Kar (the “Patterned Stone”) at the foot of Mount Sevkar, one of Armenia’s unique petroglyphs.
From the foot to the summit and back, we walked in fog. Although we were deprived of the beauty of the views, we completed the next ascent planned in our acclimatization program, so that we could reach the 4,000 m mark.
We walked 12 km and covered 800 m of total elevation gain.
