“4 PEAKS Mountain Club” began its activities on February 9, 2016, focusing on organizing children’s hikes and camps, as well as non-formal education for children and teenagers. The organization’s goal is to promote the development of hiking, mountaineering, and climbing among children and youth in the Republic of Armenia, making these activities accessible and widespread, while also enhancing Armenia’s reputation in the fields of hiking, mountaineering, and climbing. Our goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity, to foster a caring attitude toward nature in children, and to develop patriotism.

Club Activity Areas:

  1. Classes (Non-formal Education) and Hikes – We organize classes that last for five months. During the classes, children learn everything they need to know about hiking, mountaineering, and nature: natural obstacles and how to overcome them, mountain hazards, maps, symbols, compass use, first aid, predatory animals and birds found in Armenia, their behavior and how we should behave when encountering them, geography, hiking gear and equipment, knots, how to prepare for a hike, conduct during a hike, setting up a tent, climbing, emergency situations, and more.
After attending classes for one month, the children begin participating in hikes. Upon completing the classes, children are considered club members and will continue to participate in hikes. Hikes of varying difficulty are organized for children who have attended the classes, including ascents of the 4 peaks of Mount Aragats, as well as treks and climbs abroad. Children who have participated in the classes can also qualify for the “Junior Mountaineer” badge.

Through theoretical and practical lessons, we teach children aged 6-14 skills focused on safety, teamwork, understanding mountain nature, overcoming natural obstacles, making correct decisions in difficult situations, orientation, climbing techniques, physical fitness, healthy living, environmental protection, and more.

  1. Hikes for Everyone – We organize easy and moderate difficulty hikes for anyone interested.
  2. Hikes for Kindergartens, Schools, and Other Educational Institutions – We organize special hikes for children from educational institutions, tailored to their age and abilities.
  3. Tent Camps – Participation in tent camps is open to both club members and non-members.

The knowledge gained during classes and hikes, along with the skills to apply them in practice, will help children in various areas of life.
Hiking and mountaineering contribute to the development of willpower, endurance, and patience, which in turn helps children achieve their goals in the future—whether in studies, work, or other fields. Children carry out ascents to mountains and pass through canyons and forest trails. Rock climbing training is organized both on indoor walls and on natural rocks.

The best, most experienced instructors with pedagogical backgrounds are involved in working with the children.

The club’s name symbolizes the four peaks of Mount Aragats, making it attractive and symbolic within the world of Armenian mountaineering.
