If you can, keep walking

Today we had a slackline training session. Before the lesson, the children were very curious about what slacklining is and how useful it is in mountaineering.
Our instructor set up a special webbing line between two trees. Slacklining differs from tightrope walking because tightrope walking uses a tightly stretched rope or cable with a circular cross-section, whereas slacklining uses a flat webbing strap.
The tension of the webbing can be adjusted according to the purpose, and its length and width vary depending on the activity. Different types of slacklines are used for performing tricks, covering long distances, or being suspended high above the ground or over water.
Slacklining helps develop balance, concentration, coordination, and self-confidence—skills that are extremely important in mountaineering and many other outdoor activities.

By the end of the training session, the children understood that this sport helps develop balance and concentration—skills that are essential for every mountaineer. These abilities are crucial not only during mountain ascents but also while rock climbing, where maintaining focus and stability can greatly enhance both performance and safety.
