Children’s Hike in the Pink Canyon

The hike through the Pink Canyon was like a gallery of stunning landscapes. We began with views of Lanjazat village, which gradually gave way to the Azat Reservoir. The reservoir’s water was a vibrant blue-green, nestled in the embrace of mountains painted in sun-drenched yellow hues. It might seem strange, but this contrast of colors was incredibly harmonious. As we crossed the first steep slopes, Mount Ararat appeared right before us. Against the incomparable blue sky, Ararat looked magnificent. Accompanied by the mysterious presence of Ararat, we continued along the mountain ridges and gradually began our descent into the Pink Canyon. All the while, we marveled at the multicolored layers of the Yeranos Mountains.

A hike in the Pink Canyon is more than just a walk; it is about overcoming real natural obstacles. We navigated narrow rocky corridors, climbed steep and slick-rock slopes, and squeezed between boulders while maintaining our balance. In some areas, we even had to cross water sections formed by melting snow and recent rainfall. The multicolored rock layers, the narrow canyon passages, and the rugged terrain presented a new challenge at every step. But this is exactly where confidence is built—as children independently find the right footing, their own support, and their own way forward.

Thanks to this variety of colors, every stone seemed like a work of art. But among all these rocks, we were most captivated by the dendrites. They are a wonderful example of how nature “paints,” creating tree-like patterns on the surface of the stone.
