Sevan’s “Dream Trail”

The dawn of October 5 shone with a cloudless and gentle sun—the forecasts were accurate, and the day promised to be warm and bright.

Good weather was very important to us because the place we were heading to would have no shortage of beautiful views, and it was essential to go while the skies were clear. This time, we set off for the Gegharkunik region with the goal of hiking the “Dream Trail.” The trail begins near the Sevan Botanical Garden (the garden’s unique feature is that, located at an altitude of 2,000 m, it is home to more than 450 species of flora) and continues northeast through the Arjanots Mountains. The Arjanots Mountains are a southeastern branch of the Pambak mountain range. Throughout the ascent, we admired the views of Lake Sevan and the Arjanots, Geghama, and Areguni mountains. After walking 6 km, we reached a point with a wonderful view of the Sevan Peninsula. And that’s not all—there is also a bench here so you can sit and enjoy the magnificent scenery from that height.

On the way back, we found ourselves surrounded by autumn colors and even felt the gentle touch of falling leaves. Second-grade students from the “Ayb” School also participated in this hike; for many children and their parents, this was their first experience. But they all navigated the 8 km trail with great courage and enthusiasm (especially the rocky sections) and overcame a 350 m elevation gain.
