Ascent of a Mountain with an Unusual Name: Mount Tklorsar

On February 7 we decided to climb Mount Tklorsar, which is located in the Tavush region. Of course, this mountain with its unusual name (in Armenian, “tklor” means “bare” or “naked”) raised a question among the children: why is the mountain called Tklorsar? Clearly no final answer was given, especially since the mountain was covered with forest all the way to the summit. Even though the mountain is 1,992 m high, the ascent wasn’t that difficult, since to reach the summit we had to cover 750 m of elevation gain and a 10 km route. We managed to reach the summit. The children were in high spirits, which made the ascent somewhat harder, since they got carried away with talking and chatting and forgot about walking. We had to cover most of the route through mud, which, due to the warm weather, was a result of the snowmelt. From the summit, very beautiful views opened up toward Mount Sartsapat, Mount Eghjervasar and Mount Apakekar. The children were especially captivated by Mount Eghjervasar. We discovered one more beautiful summit for ourselves, spent a beautiful day in the embrace of nature, got tempered, and got to know one more of the beautiful corners of our country.
