Armaghan, the Fairies’ Favourite Mountain — 4 Peaks

Armaghan, the Fairies’ Favourite Mountain

Mount Armaghan is located in Gegharkunik Province and rises to 2,829 m. It is one of the peaks of the Geghama Mountains. On May 27, the children of our club successfully conquered the 2,829 m summit of Mount Armaghan. Despite the heavy rain that fell in the morning, we set off for Gegharkunik Province. Our high spirits and courage made the mountains welcoming: the rain clouds drew back, leaving only clouds that gave us shade, and the wind was gentle and pleasant (in fact, the weather forecast had not predicted any rain for Gegharkunik).

When the mountain first comes into view, you think the ascent is going to be very difficult, because its slopes are very steep. However, we had worked out a very comfortable route and climbed calmly all the way to the summit. It is hard for me to describe how amazed we all were when we saw the beauty of the summit: a crater, a crater lake, green nature and snow at the same time, joy, delight, satisfaction and a feeling of victory.

From here a beautiful view opens up towards Lake Sevan, and there is also a small domed church on the summit. According to legend, the heavenly fairies sometimes come down to drink water from the lake, and to stay invisible to people, the whole summit is covered in fog at that very moment.

With its unmatched beauty, Armaghan makes you want to return again and again.
