Through the Azat Gorge to the Azat Reservoir

Sunday was beautiful, and though it’s winter, we filled it with warmth.

This time it was a day of “Azats”: along the Azat River, through the Azat Gorge, we reached the Azat Reservoir, together with our little hiker Azat. Children are very curious, which helps them learn a lot during a hike, for example: how the water level rises and falls, why the gorge becomes harder in winter, what kinds of fish live in the Azat River, why some stones have such beautiful colors, why reservoirs are built, why there are so many plastic bottles in the area …

And these questions and answers give the children a lot of knowledge and skills.

And when the children look from the shore of the Azat Reservoir toward the Yeranos Mountains and try to figure out where the Pink Canyon is, you realize that we are also making a small contribution to orientation and getting to know Armenia.

During the hike we lit a campfire on the initiative of our little hiker Vladimir. And near the Azat Reservoir, our Mariam (7 y.o.), with her fairytale beauty, made tea for everyone.

And the whole way was full of songs, riddles, telling fairy tales and crazy questions …

We walked 12 km and covered almost no elevation gain.
